Eight events from August to December
What started as a small idea has quickly become a fixture in the regional cultural scene. Paul's Kultur(t)raum is significantly expanding its program: From August to December, eight events are on offer. The program ranges from open-air street theater and jazz to readings and plays, culminating in a Christmas dance theater performance.
The first three events were attended by an average of around 70 visitors. The positive response prompted initiator Helmut Mersch to abandon the original plan of a monthly event and expand the program.
“Culture should bring people together, surprise them and bring them joy – sometimes prompting reflection and sometimes simply providing a pleasant evening,” says Helmut Mersch. “The fact that my dream has become a reality and that so many guests have embraced the cultural space from the very beginning makes me very happy and whets my appetite for more.”
The civil engineer from Eberstadt launched Paul's Cultural Space to enrich the cultural offerings in the district. The positive response of the past few months encourages him to further expand the event series and bring together people with diverse cultural interests.
From street theatre to dance theatre
The program offers something for almost every taste. Planned events include open-air street theatre, a jazz summer night, a reading, an art opening, an evening with texts by Mascha Kaléko, theatre in a dance school, a themed evening about Dietrich Bonhoeffer , and a Christmas dance theatre performance to close out the year.
All events take place in a special atmosphere and invite you to experience culture up close. New guests are just as welcome as regular guests.
Opening with street theatre and jazz
It all kicks off on August 20th with the Darmstadt street theatre company "Just for Fun Express" in the garden of the Geibel blacksmith shop in Eberstadt. The program includes acrobatics, aerial acrobatics, juggling, shadow theatre and office comedy.
On September 10th, the Open Air Jazz Summernight , featuring timeless jazz standards, soulful ballads, and songs by Billy Joel and Sting.
