Festival at Dornberg Castle will cause traffic restrictions from August 20th to 24th
Music, cabaret, theatre and variety acts with free admission: From Friday, August 21, to Sunday, August 23, 2026, the "Volk im Schloss" festival will once again take place at Dornberg Castle. Due to the event and the setup and dismantling work, the main street in Groß-Gerau/Dornberg will be closed to through traffic for several days.
The closure will be in effect from Thursday, August 20, to Monday, August 24, 2026.The affected section is the main road near Dornberg Castle. According to the district town, access for residents, local businesses, and the corresponding section of Gernsheimer Straße will remain largely possible.
Three days of culture with free admission
The festival is organized by the Groß-Gerau district. "Volk im Schloss" opens on Friday, August 21st, at 5:30 pm. Visitors can expect a comprehensive cultural program over the three days of the festival, with free admission.
Among the musical highlights on Friday is the Robbie Williams tribute band The Robbie Experience, who will perform at 8:45 p.m. At 10:30 p.m., the Belgian instrumental tech-house band NAFT.
On Saturday, August 22nd, the program includes a cabaret conference with Thomas Freitag . Later in the evening, the British independent band New Model Army the stage. Their performance begins at 11 pm.
The festival also offers a program for families: On Sunday, August 23, the Dino-Metal band Heavysaurus perform at 2:30 pm.
