Police urge residents to take burglary precautions during the dark winter months
With the onset of the darker months, the police are once again reminding the public of the importance of burglary prevention and vigilance in everyday life. Early onset of dusk and longer absences offer burglars more opportunities.
Simple but effective measures are recommended:
- Always close windows and doors
- Use outdoor lighting and timers
- Simulating presence through light or sound
- Do not indicate absence on social media
- Do not leave valuables lying around
Fences, motion detectors, and vigilant neighbors further increase security. The police announced they will maintain a high level of patrols during the darker months .
