Due to the high temperatures, the bookmobile will not be running until after the summer holidays
Due to the ongoing heat wave with temperatures well over 35 degrees Celsius, the Darmstadt City Library has adjusted its opening hours at short notice. The changes will be in effect from Tuesday, June 23, to Saturday, June 27. In addition, the bookmobile will remain out of service for the time being.
The city of Darmstadt, a center of science, states that the adjustment is being made for safety reasons for visitors and staff.
Changed opening hours of the main office
The main branch of the city library in the Justus Liebig House will be open until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23.
From Wednesday, June 24th, to Saturday, June 27th, reduced opening hours will apply, from 10 am to 2 pm.
The event series “Dialogue in German” on Thursday, June 25th, is cancelled.
Restrictions in Kranichstein
The Kranichstein district library is also adjusting its opening hours:
- Tuesday, June 23: 2 pm to 5 pm
- Wednesday, June 24: 2 pm to 5 pm
- Thursday, June 25: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m
Both “Dialogue in German” and the reading session on Wednesday, June 24th, will not take place.
Eberstadt remains open as usual
There are no changes at the Eberstadt branch library. Regular opening hours remain in effect
- Tuesday, June 23: 2 pm to 6 pm
- Thursday, June 25: 2 pm to 6 pm
- Friday, June 26: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m
The bookmobile will remain in the garage
The bookmobile will suspend its services starting Tuesday, June 23. Regular trips will resume after the summer holidays on August 11.
The city library will provide information about any further short-term changes on its website. Digital services such as the online lending service remain available 24/7.
