The "audit berufundfamilie" certificate recognizes family-friendly personnel policies
The Darmstadt Clinic has once again been awarded the "audit berufundfamilie" certificate. The award ceremony took place on June 18, 2026, in Berlin. Lotte Schwärzel, Head of Organizational and Leadership Development and responsible, among other things, for the area of work-life balance, accepted the award on behalf of the clinic.
The certificate recognizes employers who systematically promote a healthy work-life balance and permanently integrate corresponding measures into their corporate culture. The Darmstadt Clinic was first certified in 2019.
Family-friendliness as an important location factor
Managing Director Sven Axt sees the renewed award as confirmation of the work done so far.
“This certificate is above all a recognition of the commitment of our employees and managers. They contribute every day to ensuring that work-life balance is a reality in everyday work. As a hospital, we depend on motivated and high-performing teams – family-friendly working conditions are an important building block for this,” explains Axt.
Lotte Schwärzel also emphasizes the importance of family-friendly working conditions in the healthcare sector.
“This award confirms our approach of creating good conditions for reconciling work, family and different phases of life. Especially in the healthcare sector, this is an important factor in supporting employees in the long term and remaining an attractive employer,” said Schwärzel.
The hospital is focusing on further development
The auditing process supports companies and institutions in continuously improving their work-life balance initiatives. Nationwide, 221 companies and institutions received the certificate this year.
The Darmstadt hospital is already planning its next steps. In the future, family-friendliness will be even more closely linked to the topic of diversity.
The hospital is currently participating in the new certification process "audit beruf&vielfalt" (audit work & diversity). This combines the topics of work-life balance and diversity in a single approach. The audit process is currently underway and, according to the hospital, should be completed by the end of the year.
