The city archives are collecting memories for the anniversary year
Weiterstadt is preparing for the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Hessian regional reform and is looking for contemporary witnesses.
Looking for memories of the regional reform
The regional reform significantly shaped the current structure of Weiterstadt. Based on the law on territorial reorganization, Gräfenhausen and Schneppenhausen were incorporated into the municipality of Weiterstadt at the beginning of 1977. Braunshardt had already voluntarily joined in 1973.
A planned merger of Gräfenhausen, Erzhausen, and Wixhausen to form the municipality of "Hessenwald" is also part of the history of this period. However, these plans were never implemented.
Stories and photos welcome
The city archive is particularly interested in personal memories of the changes in the individual districts, as well as special experiences and anecdotes from this time.
Historical photos and film footage relating to the regional reform are also being sought.
