Volunteers repair broken devices – 3D printing and food sharing complement the services offered
Under the motto "Repair instead of discard," the 42nd Eberstadt Repair Café will open its doors again on Saturday, August 15, 2026. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can repair broken everyday items together with volunteer experts at the Werkhof Darmstadt in Eberstadt.
Whether it's vacuum cleaners, printers, small pieces of furniture, bicycles, or clothing – experienced repairers, along with the necessary tools and materials, are available for numerous repairs. The Repair Café aims to give functional items a second chance, reduce waste, and conserve resources.
In addition to the repair services, those interested can also learn about the possibilities of 3D printing technology . Knowledgeable volunteers will present a 3D printer and explain its practical applications.
Also participating again is Foodsharing Darmstadt, which is committed to rescuing surplus food and using resources sustainably.
Coffee, tea, mineral water, and homemade cake create a cozy atmosphere. The Repair Café also sees itself as a meeting place for people of different generations and cultures and aims to promote neighborly exchange in Eberstadt.
The repair café is organized by the Eberstadt senior citizens' network, the city of Darmstadt, the Werkhof Darmstadt e. V. with the NALA project, and the Caritas Center Eberstadt South.
The event will take place at the premises of Werkhof Darmstadt e. V., Grenzallee 4–6, in Darmstadt-Eberstadt. Admission is free; donations to support the project are welcome.
In addition, the organizers are looking for more volunteer repairers and helpers who would like to support the repair café in the future.
