Four free guided tours invite you to discover sustainable projects
Sustainable city tours of Darmstadt are the focus of four free tours in late summer and autumn. Transition Town Darmstadt, the World Shop Darmstadt, the Common Good Economy Darmstadt, and Oikocredit invite you to get to know companies, initiatives, and projects that are committed to fair trade, sustainable business practices, and climate protection.
The free guided tours take place on August 28, September 11, September 25 , and October 17. They are based on the Darmstadt Transformation Map, which highlights locations where sustainable practices are already being implemented. Donations are welcome.
Sustainable business practices lead to places of change
The event kicks off on Friday, August 28th, with a guided tour through the Martinsviertel district. The Common Good Economy Darmstadt, in cooperation with the Darmstadt Adult Education Center (VHS Darmstadt), will showcase companies and organizations that adhere to the values of the Common Good Economy. Participants will gain insights into sustainable business practices and have the opportunity to speak with representatives of a company that has completed a Common Good Balance Sheet.
On September 11th and 25th the World Shop Darmstadt and the Darmstadt Adult Education Center (VHS Darmstadt) invite you to two guided tours through the city center. The tours will showcase places and people who demonstrate, through creative ideas, how fair, resource-conserving, and climate-friendly practices can be successfully integrated into everyday life.
Fair trade chocolate
The fourth guided city tour will take place on Saturday, October 17th, under the motto "On the Trail of Fair Trade Chocolate ." It is organized by Oikocredit and the Darmstadt Fair Trade Shop. During the approximately two-hour walk, participants will learn interesting facts about cocoa cultivation, global supply chains, fair trade practices, and the impact of the climate crisis on small-scale farms. A chocolate tasting at the Fair Trade Shop will conclude the tour.
The number of participants for all guided tours is limited to 20 people . Registration is required.
