The complete closure between Hochheim-Süd and Gustavsburg is lifted – further work continues under traffic conditions
The complete closure of the A671 between the Hochheim-Süd and Gustavsburg junctions will be lifted in mid-July. The Autobahn GmbH des Bundes (Federal Highway Company) will then be able to continue the ongoing repair work on the Hochheim Main bridge while traffic continues to flow.
From Sunday, July 12, 2026, around 10 p.m., two lanes in each direction will once again be available on the Main Bridge, as usual. This is intended to relieve congestion, particularly on the detour routes where further construction work is currently underway – including on the B43 between Bischofsheim and Ginsheim-Gustavsburg. Work on the Main Bridge will be temporarily suspended for this purpose.
From July 19th, there will be restrictions on the bridge again
on Sunday, July 19, 2026.At that time, only one lane in each direction will be available to traffic. This phase of construction will focus on completing the remaining work in the median strip.
The renovation of the Strombrücke bridge is expected to last until autumn 2026. Until the work is completed, traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane in each direction.
Further work is also planned for the outer sections of the bridge. According to Autobahn GmbH, another full closure of approximately two days will likely be necessary at the beginning of August for concreting work.
The sidewalk remains usable
The pedestrian walkway on the bridge next to the roadway will generally remain open for pedestrians and cyclists. However, for safety reasons, there may be short-term closures during certain work phases.
Autobahn GmbH will provide ongoing updates on the further progress of construction and necessary adjustments to traffic management.
