The Darmstadt Americana series kicks off its new season with a powerful dose of blues. On Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Weinheim band "mojo hand" in the hall of the Bessunger Knabenschule (Bessunger Boys' School). The band "mojo hand" is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year . It was founded in 1986 by guitarist Jürgen "Mojo" Schultz , one of the most versatile and renowned blues guitarists in southern Germany. Musically, the group covers the entire spectrum of blues – from acoustic and electric styles to influences from Delta, Chicago, and country blues.
"mojo hand" stands for varied, dynamic blues music: driving shuffle, New Orleans grooves, funk, blues rock, and powerful guitar work. The setlist includes songs by JJ Cale, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Little Feat, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Eric Clapton, Ry Cooder , and David Lindley.
