Collection on November 17th in front of the town hall – pre-orders until November 2nd
The Bickenbacher Dunkl (a local specialty) will also be available for takeaway in 2026. Pre-ordered portions can be picked up on Tuesday, November 17th, between 6 pm and 8 pm at the Röderhof stand in front of the town hall.
A portion costs nine euros and consists of boiled potatoes, traditional dark gravy, and one blood sausage and one liver sausage. At least 100 portions must be pre-ordered for this offer to be available.
“It’s important to us to continue this special Bickenbach tradition this year as well,” explains Mayor Markus Hennemann. The dish is usually offered at the community center in conjunction with a theatrical performance. Since a suitable production is lacking and the Röderhof venue doesn’t have sufficient capacity on the original date, the municipality is once again opting for the takeaway option.
Orders can be placed with the municipality from now until November 2nd : by phone at 06257/9330 or via dunkel.bickenbach-bergstrasse.de . Payment will be made at the town hall from November 3rd to 6th .
The spicy onion and bacon sauce was originally a poor man's dish. Former mayor Karl Schemel and Adam Blaum revived the recipe and added blood and liver sausages; since 1977, the "Dunksel" has been a regular feature on the Bickenbach events calendar.
