The second workshop brings new impetus to nature-based solutions and societal resilience
As the Groß-Gerau district reports, the second workshop for the further development of the climate adaptation concept took place at the district administration office on Tuesday, November 18. Following the successful launch in the summer, representatives from environmental associations, NGOs, citizens' initiatives, and engaged citizens once again came together to jointly develop measures for adapting to climate change.
New ideas from civil society
The participants actively engaged in the discussions and contributed numerous concrete suggestions – especially in the area of nature-based measures. These included, among other things:
- Building a network with committed associations
- Restoration of peatlands in the district
- Conservation and networking of biotopes
- Information on climate-adapted gardens
- Promoting awareness of climate adaptation in early childhood education
Health and societal resilience also played an important role.
Hemming: "Diversity of perspectives is a great asset"
Clara Hemming, climate adaptation manager for the Groß-Gerau district, emphasized the valuable contribution of civil society actors. The perspectives they brought to the table are crucial for developing viable and sustainable solutions for dealing with the consequences of climate change.
