Around 200 participants discuss the use of artificial intelligence
At the Darmstadt Digital Summit, held at the Darmstadt Rhine-Main-Neckar Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), around 200 experts from business and academia exchanged ideas about the future of digital transformation. The event, held on April 24th, focused on practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Focus on AI and entrepreneurial mindset
The summit was organized by the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Darmstadt, a consortium including the Technical University of Darmstadt, the Fraunhofer Society and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
In addition to technological aspects, the entrepreneurial mindset was a particular focus. Discussions centered on how companies can use AI not just as a tool, but as an integral part of their business processes.
High-caliber presentations and practical examples
The fully booked event was opened by Stefan Sauer. In lectures, workshops, and a panel discussion, participants gained insights into topics such as generative AI, AI agents, and cybersecurity.
A keynote address on the so-called "Silicon Valley Effect" demonstrated how crucial an innovation-friendly corporate culture is for the successful use of new technologies.
Hands-on AI
Alongside the main event, startups, research institutions, and initiatives presented their projects. Among the exhibits were AI-supported applications in production and automation, illustrating the practical benefits of the technology.
Initiatives such as Technologieland Hessen and hessian.AI also presented their work and provided insights into current developments.
Importance for the business location
The summit also marked the conclusion of a funding project that had been running since 2021 and focused on future developments. Continued funding is planned from 2027 onwards.
The event underscores Darmstadt's role as an important location for digitalization and innovation. The use of AI is becoming an increasingly crucial competitive factor, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
