The Volksbank Foundation has been supporting projects in the region since 1996
The Hope for Children Foundation is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Since its founding in 1996, the foundation of Volksbank Darmstadt Mainz has been committed to helping children and young people who grow up in difficult social, health, or family circumstances.
Three decades of support and commitment
The foundation was established to mark the 125th anniversary of the former Groß-Gerau Volksbank. Instead of an anniversary celebration, an endowment of 250,000 Deutsche Marks was provided. Over the years, this developed into a network to support disadvantaged children in the region.
The aim of this work is to provide young people with better opportunities for education, development and social participation, regardless of their origin or life situation.
Support for projects and families
Both immediate aid measures and long-term projects are eligible for funding. These include, among other things:
- Projects at special needs schools
- Support for organizations such as Caritas and the German Child Protection Association
- Aid for hospitals as well as directly for affected families
According to the foundation, support is often provided in an unbureaucratic manner and in close cooperation with regional partners.
Anniversary celebrated with children
To mark its 30th anniversary, the Kikeriki Theater has deliberately chosen not to hold a large gala. Instead, the focus is on children: around 600 children from 25 special needs schools have been invited to several performances of the Kikeriki Theater. The play being presented is "Petzi and the Pancake Thief".
Figures from 30 years of foundation work
According to its own statements, the foundation was able to achieve the following by the end of 2025:
- raise approximately 2.4 million euros in donations
- approximately 2.2 million euros will be invested in around 1,260 projects
A look into the future
The foundation announces that it will continue to provide targeted assistance where support is most urgently needed. Its work will continue to be funded through donations and regional partnerships.
