Advisory campaign launches in the southern district – homeowners in Gernsheim, Biebesheim, Stockstadt and Riedstadt can take advantage of the consultation service
The Groß-Gerau district and the Hessian Consumer Center are launching an information campaign on heating oil tanks and alternative heating technologies. The campaign is aimed at homeowners in Gernsheim, Biebesheim, Stockstadt, and Riedstadt. Initial consultations will be available starting Thursday, October 1, 2026.
According to its own statement, the district has in advance written to households in the four municipalities where heating oil tanks made of polyethylene (PE) or plastic are present, for which there is only a one-time inspection requirement.
Consultation possible directly in your own home
From October to November, energy consultants from the Hessian Consumer Center are available to answer questions about replacing heating systems. Depending on demand, they will also visit the households in question and provide information about alternative heat generation options and the replacement of existing heating systems.
The campaign aims to provide homeowners with information on current legislation and different heating technologies. The consultation costs a co-payment of 40 euros. According to the district, the remaining costs are subsidized by the federal government.
The offer is aimed at homeowners in Gernsheim, Biebesheim, Stockstadt and Riedstadt.
Further information about the campaign and heating oil tanks can be found on the Groß-Gerau district website under the heading "Heating oil tanks".
