Students get a taste of different professions and companies
Students from southern Hesse will once again have the opportunity to gain practical insights into various career fields in the summer of 2026: The statewide internship days will take place from June 8th to August 7th. Around 60 companies in the region around Darmstadt have already offered corresponding placements.
Insights into many professional fields
The internship days allow young people to get a taste of different companies for a few days. They choose the sectors that interest them. The areas offered include mechanical engineering, automotive, metal processing, nursing, social work, IT, and administration and finance.
The event is being organized, among others, by the Darmstadt Rhine Main Neckar Chamber of Industry and Commerce, which sees the format as an important building block for career orientation.
Participation before and during the summer holidays
This program is aimed at students from the 8th grade onwards who can be excused from classes for individual days before the summer holidays. During the holidays, participation is possible from the age of 15. Young adults not currently attending school can also participate.
The internship days are free of charge for young people and companies.
Easy registration via online platform
Registration takes place via the platform praktikumswoche.de. Both young people and companies create a profile there. Based on this, suitable internship opportunities are suggested. If both parties agree, the internship can take place.
Companies can register until June 1, 2026, while students can register until June 29.
Contribution to securing skilled workers
The internship days are part of a statewide initiative implemented by the Hessian Ministry of Economic Affairs together with other partners. The aim is to introduce young people to the world of work at an early stage and to support companies in recruiting young talent.
