For the twelfth time, employees of the Darmstadt energy supplier are volunteering to help patients at the Darmstadt Clinic
With needle, thread, and great dedication, ENTEGA employees have once again supported a special charitable cause. For the twelfth time, employees of the Darmstadt-based energy supplier sewed heart-shaped pillows for breast cancer patients. A total of 22 colleagues participated in the project, creating 71 colorful pillows, which have now been donated to the Darmstadt Clinic.
The heart-shaped pillows are designed to make everyday life easier for women after breast surgery. Their special shape allows them to be placed under the arm, helping to reduce pressure on sensitive areas and surgical scars.
Support for patients of the women's clinic
Philip Krämer, Head of Communications and Corporate Spokesperson of ENTEGA, presented the 71 cushions to PD Dr. med. Sven Ackermann, Director of the Women's Clinic at the Darmstadt Hospital, and his team.
“I am very pleased that our staff have once again supported the heart pillow campaign with such dedication. We hope to ease the recovery process for the patients and wish them all the best,” said Krämer at the handover.
The cushions were made in mid-September during a joint sewing day. At that time, Sven Ackermann personally visited the participating employees to thank them for their efforts.
Small pillows with a big impact
The heart-shaped pillows filled with cotton wool have a special shape that allows them to be comfortably placed under the arm in the armpit.
There, they can reduce pressure on the operated tissue and the surgical scar after breast surgery. In this way, they can help alleviate pain and make the post-operative period more comfortable for patients.
The idea for this form of support originally comes from the USA. Heart-shaped pillows are now also used in medical and nursing care in Germany.
They are used particularly in women after breast surgery or other surgical procedures in the breast area.
Commitment with tradition
For the ENTEGA workforce, the heart-shaped pillow campaign has become a firmly established tradition. With this twelfth edition, the employees are continuing their voluntary commitment to patients at the Darmstadt hospital.
The 71 hand-sewn pillows are intended not only to provide physical relief to the affected women, but also to be a sign of support and sympathy.
