Shotokan Karate Dojo Seeheim receives 250 euros for its commitment to participation and community
The Shotokan Karate Dojo Seeheim has been honored for its social commitment at the "Stars of Sports 2026" awards . The karate club from Seeheim received a prize of 250 euros for its project "Karate as a Bridge: Diversity that Empowers."
Community and participation are at the heart of this outstanding commitment. People of different generations, cultural backgrounds, and personal circumstances train together in the club. This also includes children from a children's home.
Karate as a bridge to greater participation
Where financial or personal obstacles make it difficult to participate in organized sports, the Shotokan Karate Dojo tries to provide support. Karate uniforms and belts are loaned out, and assistance with membership fees and joining the karate association is also available.
The organization also offers activities in schools, kindergartens, and retirement homes, as well as self-defense courses for women and girls. Training and discussions are available in German, English, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, and Italian.
According to the club, athletic performance is not the sole focus of training. Values such as respect, responsibility, and mutual support are also emphasized. Advanced members support beginners, and younger and older members train together.
The award at the “Stars of Sports 2026” is seen by the club as recognition of its commitment and at the same time an incentive to continue its work.
