Ten eventful days at Lake Lippe with excursions, beach visits and lots of team spirit
The DLRG Youth Pfungstadt successfully concluded its traditional summer camp. The group, consisting of 21 children and teenagers aged six to 17, along with eleven adult supervisors, spent ten days at Lake Lippe near Paderborn. After two days of setup, the participants were able to move directly into the already erected sleeping, common room, and kitchen tents. Icebreaker games ensured a great atmosphere right from the start.
Excursions, beach and spending time together
After the intense heat during setup, the weather during the camp was changeable. Nevertheless, the children and teenagers were able to enjoy the beach at Lake Lippe for three days. In between, group and board games as well as various excursions were on the program.
A highlight was the visit to the Berleburg Eagle Sanctuary with its flight demonstration. "One of the birds of prey flew so close over my head that I could easily have touched it," reported participant Cesar. The petting zoo was also a hit with the group. Another excursion took them to summer tobogganing, adventure golf, and an adventure playground with slides.
A family atmosphere as a recipe for success
The team of supervisors was very pleased with how the camp went. "The camp ran smoothly. Our team worked together harmoniously, and despite a few minor incidents, it was a complete success," said camp leader Joshua Leibrock.
Supervisor Leonie Knieß also emphasized the special atmosphere: "Our camp isn't just a camp – it creates a real family-like environment." The kitchen team, who provided fresh meals for the group daily, also contributed to this. Although the traditional multi-course meal had to be postponed by a day due to a temporary stomach bug, it was finally enjoyed together at the end of the camp.
On the last day, all participants pitched in with the dismantling despite the rain. After returning, the children were handed over to their families before the team of supervisors celebrated the end of the camp together.
Follow-up meeting in October
Anyone who would like to relive the summer camp experience has the opportunity to do so on October 23rd from 6:30 pm . The camp film and numerous photos will be shown at the reunion in the clubhouse.
