First test phase ends – road temporarily closed on June 23rd
The first test phase of the nationwide pilot project "Transform-R" is coming to an end in the district town of Groß-Gerau. On Monday, June 23, 2025 , the street furniture installed in public spaces will be dismantled as planned. This measure affects the section of Darmstädter Straße between Klein-Gerauer Straße/Friedrichstraße and Frankfurter Straße , which will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
A no-stopping and no-parking zone will be in effect in the area from early morning . The "Groß-Gerau Marktplatz" bus stop will also be temporarily relocated to the corner of Gernsheimer Straße and Friedrichstraße .
Access regulations for residents
During the closure, access to Mittelstraße and Otto-Wels-Straße via Helwigstraße will be blocked. However, residents of Otto-Wels-Straße will still have access to their properties.
Second test phase temporarily halted
The city council has decided to suspend the originally planned second test phase. This means that no new street furniture will be installed on Darmstädter Straße until further notice . The aim is to properly evaluate the first project phase before deciding on a possible continuation.
The city is in close contact with all project partners – including the planning office Planersocietät (Dortmund) and the Goethe University Frankfurt – and also with the funding provider.
Analysis phase is underway
The ongoing evaluation takes into account both technical measurement data and feedback from online surveys, information portal feedback, written submissions and event protocols.
Once the results are available, a draft resolution on the future handling of the project will be submitted to the relevant city council committee. This will also include a possible continuation in a modified form or the final termination of the project .
