Former professional player strengthens the U21 team of SV Darmstadt 98
The U21 team of SV Darmstadt 98 will receive prominent reinforcements for the new Hessenliga season: Yannick Stark returns to the Böllenfalltor and will play for the second team of the Lilies in the future.
“We are delighted to welcome Yannick as a key player in our U21 team. Together with Markus Ballmert, he will lead our very young squad and guide them with his experience and footballing qualities. He knows the club extremely well, and it's great that he will once again wear the lily on his chest,” says Maximilian Mehring, Sporting Director of the Youth Performance Center.
Stark is also looking forward to his return: "Max, Patrick Kurt, and Gösta Kiefer, in particular, went to great lengths to bring me back and always kept in touch. I'm excited by the opportunity to fill a special role as an experienced player within a very talented team. My connection to Darmstadt has never been broken over the years. As a native of Darmstadt, I'm naturally very happy to be returning to my hometown."
The 35-year-old midfielder has made 114 competitive appearances for SV Darmstadt 98 in his career so far, including 82 matches in the 2. Bundesliga. Stark has also played for clubs such as FSV Frankfurt, TSV 1860 Munich, and Dynamo Dresden. Most recently, he played for Hessen Kassel until June 30th.
With the signing of the experienced midfielder, Darmstadt 98 are banking on a blend of talent and experience. Stark is expected to play a key role in the young Hessenliga team, both on the pitch and as a leader.
