Literature, music and history in the hunting lodge complex
The "Culture in the Castle" series continued with two well-attended events at the historic hunting lodge in Bickenbach. Around 60 visitors participated in the readings.
Mayor opens cultural event
Mayor Markus Hennemann welcomed the guests and introduced the program. He emphasized the importance of cultural events at this historic location and expressed his delight at the positive response.
Music and literature in the morning
The event opened with author Ernst Spangenberg together with the band De Roode Pelikan. Accompanied by chansons, klezmer, and tangos, he presented his work "A Raspberry's Admonition to Her Young".
The audience enjoyed a varied reading with humorous, poetic, and philosophical elements. The musical accompaniment further enhanced the special atmosphere.
Historical insights at teatime
In the afternoon, the anthropologist Claudia Stehle focused on the English figure Anne Lister. Using selected diary entries, she provided insights into the life and thought of this woman, considered extraordinary in the 19th century.
Particular interest was shown in the explanation of the secret code developed by Anne Lister, which was used to encrypt personal content.
Positive feedback on the event series
Visitors praised not only the diverse program but also the ambiance of the historic site. The "Culture in the Castle" series has once again established itself as an integral part of cultural life in Bickenbach.
