Climate protection programs will continue after the budget is approved
Following the approval of the budget by the regional council, Darmstadt once again has funds available for the promotion of photovoltaic systems and cisterns. Applications already submitted can now be processed and disbursed promptly. New applications are also still being accepted.
Funding is available not only to private individuals, but also to associations, foundations and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Over 500 solar consultations in Darmstadt
According to the city, volunteer solar energy consultants in Darmstadt have already conducted more than 500 consultations. The "Heiner Solarberatung" (Heiner Solar Consultation) initiative was launched in 2022 in cooperation with the Darmstadt chapter of the German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND).
The consultation process takes place in several steps: First, an on-site visit is conducted to assess roof areas and potential solutions. This is followed by an individual evaluation with specific recommendations, which are presented in a subsequent meeting. The consultants remain available for follow-up questions even after this initial meeting.
Support for the energy transition on the ground
Climate protection officer Michael Kolmer emphasizes the importance of the project: The combination of municipal funding and voluntary commitment shows how climate protection can be implemented concretely on site and at the same time creates social added value.
The initiative continues to grow and is looking for additional volunteers – both for consultations and for organizational tasks and public relations.
Funding programs remain open
Those interested can still submit funding applications or register . The programs are intended to help advance the expansion of renewable energies in Darmstadt and at the same time further establish sustainable solutions such as rainwater harvesting.
