Free bulky waste collection and hazardous waste collection on October 28th and 29th
The municipal services department of the city of Darmstadt (EAD) is holding two recycling days on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in Wixhausen and on Thursday, October 29, in Eberstadt. Residents can dispose of bulky waste and broken electrical appliances free of charge. The EAD will also offer a mobile hazardous waste collection service and waste management advice.
On both days, the EAD's "DAseinsMobil" will be on site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Employees of the municipal enterprise will answer questions about waste disposal and advise on the correct separation and disposal of different types of waste.
Bulky waste and electronic waste can be put out the evening before
For the recycling days, the EAD (Waste Management Authority) is setting up central collection points in both districts. Bulky waste and defective electrical appliances can be left there the evening before.
In Wixhausen, the collection point is located in the area of Bahnhofstraße/Brühlstraße. Items may be placed there from Tuesday, October 27th, at 6 pm.
In Eberstadt, the collection point is located in the area of Robert-Koch-Straße/Von-Ketteler-Straße. Donations can be dropped off there from Wednesday, October 28th, at 6 pm.
Collection is free of charge during the recycling days.
For large items, a collection appointment is required
Particularly large items cannot simply be left at the collection points. For sofas, wall units, or large electrical appliances such as refrigerators, residents must arrange a separate collection appointment in advance.
This collection is also free of charge. Appointments can be arranged via the EAD service hotline at telephone number 06151 13-46000.
Mobile hazardous waste collection on both days
In addition to the collection of bulky waste and electronic waste, the EAD's special waste collection vehicle is operating in Wixhausen and Eberstadt.
It will be available in Wixhausen on Wednesday, October 28th, from 2 pm to 3 pm.
On Thursday, October 29th, special waste can be dropped off in Eberstadt from 10 to 11 am.
A maximum of 20 kilograms of hazardous waste may be delivered per shipment. Individual containers must not exceed a capacity of 20 liters.
The EAD points out that hazardous waste must not be left at the collection points in advance. It must be handed over personally to the staff of the hazardous waste collection vehicle.
What types of special waste can be disposed of?
Typical special waste from private households includes, among other things, paints, thinners, impregnating agents, and wood and rust preservatives.
Cosmetics, spray cans, household and toilet cleaners, limescale removers, plant protection and insect control products, as well as mercury-containing thermometers and switches or energy-saving lamps are also considered special waste.
The following items are not accepted at the special waste collection vehicle: emulsion paints, deep primers, primers, adhesives, waste oil, car batteries and electronic waste.
For the disposal of such materials, the EAD refers to its stationary special waste collection point at Sensfelderweg 33.
Waste management advice with the DASeinsMobil (Mobile Unit)
In addition to the disposal options, the EAD offers personal consultation on both days.
The DASeinsMobil (mobile information unit) is on site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those interested can find out about the various waste disposal services offered by EAD and ask questions about waste separation.
