A guided tour on June 23rd will provide insights into the inner workings of the municipal enterprise
The municipal services department of the city of Darmstadt (EAD) will participate in the nationwide Day of Public Services again in 2026. The event will take place on Tuesday, June 23, and this year's motto is "For each other. For you. For us. For everyone.".
With the Day of Public Services, the Association of Municipal Enterprises (VKU) draws attention to the importance of municipal services and puts the focus on the people who ensure the functioning of public life on a daily basis.
A view into the engine room of the EAD
This year, EAD is focusing on its in-house workshop. There, employees ensure that the company's numerous vehicles are ready for daily use and can reliably perform their tasks in Darmstadt.
Those interested will have the opportunity to learn about the workshop's work and get a behind-the-scenes look at the municipal service provider during an approximately one-hour guided tour. The tour will also explain the consequences of neglecting regular vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Guided tour on June 23rd
The guided tour begins on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 4 p.m. on the EAD premises at Sensfelderweg 33. Admission starts at 3:30 p.m. Participation is free, but registration by June 18 is required.
City Treasurer André Schellenberg emphasizes the importance of the day of action: "The Day of Public Services draws attention to all those whose work we often only consciously notice when it is missing. The day of action is therefore a good opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of people who regularly collect the waste, flush the street drains or clean the classrooms in schools, not only on this day."
Nationwide campaign by the VKU
EAD is also participating in the nationwide social media campaign of the Association of Municipal Enterprises. The campaign runs until Public Services Day on June 23 and raises awareness nationwide about the services provided by municipal companies.
