Two live! jazz concerts, the Night of Spiritual Songs and other cultural events are on the program in November.
The Darmstadt City Church offers a diverse cultural program in November 2026, featuring jazz, a cappella pop, brass music, and communal singing. In addition to two concerts in the Live!Jazz series, the Swedish group DAD HARMONY and the 13th Darmstadt Night of Spiritual Songs will be presented. A reading by comic artist Flix is also on the program.
Live! Jazz with two young bands
On Saturday, November 14th, at 7:30 pm, the Volker Heuken Trio will present their program "Future Backup". The three musicians combine jazz with elements of indie and electronic music. Volker Heuken plays vibraphone, Lukas Grossmann synthesizer and Hammond organ, and Johannes Koch drums.
On Saturday, November 28th, also at 7:30 pm, the Hamburg quartet BLUFF will perform at the city church. Tim Scherer (piano), Christian Höhn (trumpet), Lucas Kolbe (bass) and Matteo Stefani (drums) will present pieces from their debut album "Sleight of Hand" as well as new material.
Tickets cost €20 in advance, €10 for concessions. Tickets at the door cost €25, or €12.50 for concessions.
A cappella pop and spiritual songs
The Swedish a cappella group DAD HARMONY will be performing on Friday, November 6th, at 8 pm. The five singers became famous through videos on social media and are presenting their own interpretations of well-known pop songs on their European tour.
On Friday, November 13th, at 7:30 pm, the 13th Darmstadt Night of Spiritual Songs will take place under the motto "Singing together for healing." People of different backgrounds and faiths are invited to sing peace songs, mantras, and meditative chants from various traditions together.
No prior knowledge of music notation is required. Listeners are also welcome. Admission is free; donations for a local hospice will be collected at the exit.
Brass music and reading with Flix
On Sunday, November 15th, at 6 pm, the BlechReiz Brass Quintet presents its program "Only Love (Lippe) Counts". With original compositions and arrangements, the ensemble humorously explores love, relationships, and everyday family life.
On Friday, November 27th, at 7:30 p.m., comic artist and author Flix will present his first novel, "Immerland – The City of Eternity." The story follows twelve-year-old Mika, who experiences an unusual summer and discovers a mysterious city. The reading is aimed at people aged twelve and up and is organized by the Friends of Culture at the City Church association.
An organ matinee with Jorin Sandau on Saturday, November 28th, at 11:30 am complements the program.
