Road resurfacing will cause closures and traffic disruptions until the end of October – diversion during the autumn holidays
Motorists should expect traffic disruptions at the Dieburg interchange in the coming weeks. Hessen Mobil has begun resurfacing the roadway this week in the area connecting the B26 from Darmstadt to the B45 towards Hanau. The work is expected to last until the end of October 2026.
The renovation will take place in two phases. During the first phase, which will be carried out during the Hessian autumn school holidays, the connecting ramp from the B26 to the B45 towards Hanau will have to be completely closed.
Detour via the Dieburg Triangle
Motorists traveling on the B26 from Darmstadt who wish to switch to the B45 towards Hanau will be diverted during the closure. The signposted diversion route leads via a U-turn at the Dieburg interchange.
Additionally, there will be restrictions on the B45 in the area of the B26 on-ramp for the entire duration of the construction work. In the direction of Hanau, the two lanes will be reduced to one. The traffic flow will be narrowed and shifted.
The maximum permitted speed in the construction zone is limited to 60 to 80 kilometers per hour.
New asphalt surface over 1.5 kilometers
As part of the renovation, the top layer of asphalt will be milled off and renewed over a distance of approximately 1.5 kilometers.
According to Hessen Mobil, the measure is necessary to restore the road surface's grip, improve road safety and extend the road's service life.
The construction costs amount to approximately 361,000 euros. They are being covered by the federal government.
