Readings, live music and poetry slam planned for September
The "GG LOKAL" event series returns in 2026. In September, the city of Groß-Gerau and the Kulturcafé association invite you to four diverse cultural evenings. The program includes literature, live music, and performing arts at various venues in the city center.
Advance ticket sales for all events have already begun.
Opening event with a premiere reading by Ralf Schwob
The event kicks off on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. with the premiere reading of the new novel "Night of the Senses" by author Ralf Schwob in the Kulturcafé hall at Darmstädter Straße 31.
This suspenseful novel combines regional settings with psychologically complex characters and is set against the backdrop of the Groß-Gerau street festival "Night of the Senses." The story centers on three people whose fates are closely intertwined. Admission is ten euros.
“I am delighted that, thanks to the support of our sponsors and, of course, the Kulturcafé association, we are able to host GG LOKAL again this year. Cultural events are immensely important for the city's community,” explains Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau.
Dance Classics with the Degenhard Club Band
Live music is on the program for Saturday, September 5, 2026. Starting at 8 p.m., the Degenhard Club Band will be performing at Aga's Bar Lounge in the train station building at Sudetenstraße 51.
The six musicians present dance classics and pop hits from several decades. Their repertoire ranges from Chaka Khan and Jamiroquai to Bruno Mars. Tickets cost 18 euros.
Goozebumps are playing in the courtyard of the former Darmstadt bakery
Another concert will follow on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 7 p.m. The band Goozebumps will perform in the courtyard of the former Darmstädter bakery next to MAXBäcker at Darmstädter Straße 32.
The trio performs songs by artists including U2, The Police, Coldplay, and Bruno Mars. Admission is €15.
Poetry slam concludes the event
The series of events concludes on Friday, September 25, 2026, with the "Poetry Battle" in the Kulturcafé hall. It starts at 7:30 p.m.
At the poetry slam, poets present their own original texts. The audience then decides on the finalists. The event is organized and hosted by Christine-Katharina Krämer. Tickets cost ten euros.
Regional culture at the center
With GG LOKAL, the city of Groß-Gerau and the Kulturcafé association pursue the goal of making regional artists visible and promoting cultural encounters.
“We look forward to evenings full of atmosphere, creativity and community with offerings for a wide range of interests and generations,” says Christine-Katharina Krämer, chairwoman of the Kulturcafé association.
Tickets and further information are available via the Kulturcafé website.
