“Two shops allow reading”: Literature between reality and fantasy
An evening dedicated to E.T.A. Hoffmann, featuring Michael Schikowski, will take place on Thursday, October 29th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Büchergilde bookstore, located at Marktplatz 10 in Darmstadt. This event is being held in conjunction with the Bessunger bookstore as part of the "Two Shops Promote Reading" series.
Literary scholar Schikowski focuses on the work of the writer, lawyer, and composer E.T.A. Hoffmann (1776–1822). Hoffmann's stories explore the uncanny and the fantastic, blurring the lines between reality and imagination. With his "Fantasy Pieces" and "Night Pieces," he became known as "Ghost Hoffmann.".
Admission costs 15 euros. Tickets are available in advance at both bookstores. Reservations can be made by phone at 06151/295296 (Buchhandlung am Markt) and 06151/315871 (Bessunger Buchladen).
