Animals are intended to push back reeds and promote biodiversity
As the press office of the city of Griesheim reports, cattle are being used in the Griesheim Bruch for nature conservation in addition to the donkeys already in use since this week.
Nine adult animals and three calves will be introduced to a section of the marsh to naturally suppress the rapidly growing reeds. The aim is to develop wet grassland in order to promote biodiversity in the area in the long term.
Area secured with electric fence
To protect the animals and the area, a double electric fence has been installed. The city explicitly advises against feeding the cattle.
Those who wish to observe the animals can do so particularly well on the path from the B26 towards the angling club.
