The art space "Backstube" opens a quiet space for visitors
The installation "What do you see?" by artist Ulrike E. Sticher is being made accessible to visitors for the first time in the Backstube art space. The space can be visited from April 20th to May 11th, 2026.
From an outside perspective to experiencing the space
Since July 2025, the installation was only visible from the outside – through two small openings in the glass facade. One was at adult height, the other at child height. This allowed visitors to glimpse the interior and develop their own perceptions.
Now the concept is being expanded: During opening hours and by appointment, it is possible to enter the installation and experience it directly.
Space of silence and reduction
The room, measuring approximately 15 square meters, is completely lined with unprinted newspaper and is a uniform, light beige color. A matching object lies in the center.
The installation deliberately focuses on reduction and silence. The aim is to create a place of tranquility that invites reflection and contemplation.
An invitation to linger
Visitors can sit on a bench in the room and soak up the unique atmosphere. Shoes are not permitted inside, as the floor is completely covered with paper.
The installation is open Mondays from 4 pm to 7 pm and Thursdays from 11 am to 2 pm. Other appointments are possible by arrangement.
