The Protestant church invites people to weddings and blessings at two locations
On Friday, June 26, 2026, the "simply get married" initiative will be offered for the second time in Darmstadt. As the Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt announces, couples can celebrate their love on this day, receive a blessing, renew their wedding vows, or even have an official church wedding – without lengthy preparation and with a relatively uncomplicated process.
The event is organized by "FEST im Leben," the innovation and coordination office of the Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt. This year, two locations in Darmstadt are available for it.
Two locations for blessing and wedding ceremony
From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the "simply get married" event will take place in the chapel and the rotunda hall of Kranichstein Hunting Lodge. From 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., the event will continue in the Protestant St. Martin's Church and in the garden at the St. Martin's Foundation on Riegerplatz.
This means that, in addition to the existing location, there is now a new venue for the event. Couples can decide for themselves in what setting they want their celebration to take place – in the garden, in the castle or in the church, with classical music or current songs, in a small circle or together with family and friends.
Spontaneous participation is also possible
Pastors and lay preachers from the deanery are available for weddings and blessings. After a brief conversation, the ceremony begins, focusing on the couple's relationship and the blessing. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for everyone to toast the occasion.
In principle, all couples can receive a blessing for their relationship. If the marriage is also to be registered in the church records, one of the partners must be a member of the Protestant church.
Registration is already possible at:

Anyone who wishes can also spontaneously come to Kranichstein Hunting Lodge or St. Martin's Church on June 26th without prior registration.
