Preliminary election results will be presented on March 15th
The city of Groß-Gerau invites residents to the presentation of the first results of the local elections on election night. On Sunday, March 15, 2026, starting at 6 p.m., the preliminary results of the city council election will be presented at the Groß-Gerau City Museum on the market square.
Seven lists are running in the election
In the local elections, voters will decide how the 37 seats in the city council will be distributed over the next five years. A total of seven lists running: CDU, SPD, Alliance 90/The Greens, FDP, Free Voters, Kombi-FWG, and The Left.
The presentation on election night will initially show a trend in the distribution of votes. A final result will not be available at that time.
The counting takes place in several steps
On Sunday, only ballots simple, unaltered mark indicating a candidate's party list . Ballots with cumulative or preferential votes – that is, where candidates were crossed out, selected multiple times, or distributed across several lists – will not be counted until Monday.
In the local elections five years ago, the trend result presented on election night was already very close to the later official final result.
A look back at the 2021 election
In the last local elections on March 14, 2021 the CDU emerged as the strongest party with 31.6 percent of the vote. They were followed by the SPD (24.4 percent), the Greens (19.6 percent), the Free Voters (8.8 percent), the FDP (5.2 percent), the Kombi-FWG (4.6 percent), The Left (4.1 percent), and the AfD (1.6 percent).
In the current city council, the CDU holds 12 seats, the SPD 9, the Greens 7 , and the Free Voters 3.The FDP and the combined Free Voters' Association (Kombi-FWG) each have 2 councilors, while The Left and the AfD each one .
