Around 70 drawings and video installations will be on display in the PAMO district from November 5th
With the exhibition "In the Puddles of Erosion" by artist Rainer Lind, the EPES Gallery opens its new exhibition space in the PAMO district at Mainzer Straße 79 in Darmstadt on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 7 p.m. The gallery will display around 70 drawings and video documentaries of landscapes across more than 300 square meters. The exhibition runs until November 19.
Rainer Lind presents drawings and video works
The exhibition offers insight into the diverse work of Rainer Lind, whose artistic practice encompasses drawing, painting, and video. For his paintings, he uses materials such as linseed oil, iron oxide, graphite, and shellac on canvas, cardboard, and paper.
The properties of the materials play a crucial role. Running colors, drying surfaces, and overlapping lines create forms that the artist takes up and develops further. Bold charcoal marks meet delicate pencil drawings. From the initially abstract-looking structures, recurring motifs, landscapes, and figures emerge.
The drawings are complemented by video documentation, which can be viewed on several monitors.
Artists with a long-standing connection to Darmstadt
Rainer Lind studied design at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences from 1975 to 1979 and subsequently at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Gotthard Graubner. In 1983, he was awarded the prize of the Darmstadt Secession, of which he has been a member ever since. In 1986, he received the Georg Christoph Lichtenberg Prize for Painting from the Darmstadt-Dieburg district.
In addition to his artistic work, Lind has been active in university teaching for many years, including at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and Philipps University of Marburg.
Artist talk and closing event
On Thursday, November 12, at 7 p.m., Rainer Lind will present and discuss a selection of his video interviews. The exhibition concludes on Thursday, November 19, with a closing event at 7 p.m.
