Work along the row of shops will begin on May 18th
The raised beds along the row of shops in Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße between the market square and Schönweibergasse are being redesigned and planted.
Work will continue until the end of May
The work will begin on May 18, 2026, and is expected to be completed by May 29. During the construction period, there may be some disruptions along the shopping area.
An external specialist company was commissioned at short notice for the work. The costs amount to approximately 60,000 euros. The area to be treated is about 275 square meters.
The flooring will be partially replaced
According to the city, the existing vegetation is in poor condition. Therefore, the topsoil and some of the existing plants will be removed. New growing medium will then be installed and the area replanted.
The plans include perennials, grasses, ground cover, and small shrubs. Examples of plants used are deutzia, cinquefoil, dwarf spirea, lavender, asters, catmint, bellflower, aubrieta, and oregano.
A uniform appearance is planned
The design is based on the existing planting areas in Pfützenstraße and Sophie-Scholl-Straße in order to create a uniform cityscape.
Additional trees will not be planted for traffic-related reasons.
