Three meeting points for a joint collection drive on September 12th
The town of Riedstadt, associated with Büchner, is participating in RhineCleanUp 2026.On Saturday, September 12th, residents are invited to join in collecting trash along the local riverbanks. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with meeting points in Erfelden and Leeheim.
The cleanup campaign is being organized by the local RhineCleanUp group together with the environmental department of the city of Riedstadt. Under the motto "Fish today. Plastic tomorrow! – We're changing that!", the aim is to remove waste that can ultimately end up in the oceans via rivers.
Three meeting points in Erfelden and Leeheim
Volunteers can join the collection groups at three locations on the day of action:
- Erfelden: Parking lot Schwedensäule
- Erfelden: Richthofenplatz
- Leeheim: Parking lot at the satellite measuring station, Schusterwörthstraße
Individuals, families, groups, and clubs are all welcome to participate. Organizers kindly request that participants their own gloves and handcarts for transporting the collected trash, if possible.
Part of the sustainability week in the Groß-Gerau district
In addition to Riedstadt, other municipalities in the Groß-Gerau district are participating in this year's RhineCleanUp. The event is also part of the Groß-Gerau district's Climate and Sustainability Week, which takes place from September 12th to 20th and focuses on the theme of "Waste and Waste Prevention".
The RhineCleanUp initiative has been organizing clean-up campaigns along rivers since 2018. According to the organizers, more than 100,000 volunteers have participated in the campaigns since then.
