The rainbow flag will fly until Christopher Street Day on August 15th
Following the events at Christopher Street Day in Berlin, the city of Darmstadt has shown solidarity. Since Sunday afternoon (July 27), the rainbow flag at Luisenplatz and the town hall. It will remain there until Christopher Street Day in Darmstadt on August 15 .
By flying the flag, the city expresses its condolences to those affected and its support for the queer community. According to the city, its sympathies go out to the family of the deceased, the injured, and all those shaken by the events.
Commitment to diversity and democracy
Mayor Hanno Benz described the act as an attack on people who want to live and love freely, just as they are. He added that it also targeted the fundamental values of an open and democratic society.
The city of science will not be intimidated by this. The rainbow flag stands as a visible symbol that diversity, freedom, and social cohesion have a firm place in Darmstadt.
Invitation to the CSD in Darmstadt
The city invites citizens to participate in Christopher Street Day on August 15th in Darmstadt. The event is intended to send a message of diversity, tolerance, solidarity and democracy.
