Travel photography, café culture and recipes from Europe
The two authors Simone Ruths and Franziska König from Darmstadt are publishing their new book “Sweet Days: On Traveling & Snacking”.
The book combines travel photography, personal stories, café culture and baking recipes from various European regions.
Inspiration in Mallorca
The idea for the book originated during a trip to Mallorca. When a pigeon stole a piece of cake belonging to the two friends in a square, the idea arose to combine travel experiences and culinary memories.
“We didn’t want to create just a baking book, but also to inspire a desire to travel and enjoy life,” the two authors explain.
Recipes from several countries
For “Sweet Days”, Simone Ruths and Franziska König traveled to places including Portugal, Italy, Spain, Tenerife, Vienna and Dresden. There they collected traditional recipes and personal stories.
The selection of recipes ranges from Mallorcan almond cake to Pastéis de Nata from Lisbon to Viennese Sachertorte.
Baked in Bessungen
Many of the recipes were subsequently recreated and photographed in Simone Ruths' kitchen in the Bessungen district of Darmstadt.
In addition to the recipes, the book also contains travel photographs, poems and café tips.
The two authors already achieved success with their first book, "Patisserie de Luxe." "Sweet Days" is also being republished by Gräfe und Unzer.
The book “Sweet Days: On Traveling & Snacking” can already be pre-ordered.
