Construction work between Weiterstadt and Langen/Mörfelden is planned to last until the end of August
Motorists on the A5 should expect traffic disruptions from mid-June. The Autobahn GmbH is resurfacing the roadway in the direction of Frankfurt between the Weiterstadt and Langen/Mörfelden junctions. The work is expected to last until the end of August 2026.
Over a length of approximately four kilometers, all lanes except the hard shoulder will be renovated.
Preparatory work will begin on June 15th
Starting on June 15th, two median crossovers will be installed, which are needed for the subsequent construction traffic management. During these preliminary works, traffic disruptions may occur at night between 8 pm and 6 am in both directions.
The first construction phase begins on June 17th
According to current plans, the actual renovation work will start on June 17, 2026.
During peak traffic times between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m., a total of four narrowed lanes are available to road users in both directions.
Between 11 a.m. and 5 a.m. the following day, four narrowed lanes will be set up in the direction of Basel and three narrowed lanes in the direction of Frankfurt.
Work will be carried out in two phases
The renovation will take place in two consecutive construction phases.
In the first construction phase, the first and second lanes as well as parts of the third lane will be renewed.
The second phase of construction is scheduled to begin on August 14th. During this phase, the remaining section of the third lane and the fourth lane will be resurfaced. Four narrowed lanes will be available in each direction.
Autobahn GmbH requests caution
Autobahn GmbH requests that all road users pay special attention in the construction area and have an understanding for the unavoidable restrictions during the construction work.
The renovation aims to ensure the long-term preservation of the heavily used motorway connection between southern Hesse and the Rhine-Main area.
