Hessen Mobil will be repairing the L3114 overpass from October 29th – detours are expected to remain in place until May 2027
over the B26 near Groß-Zimmern will begin on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Hessen Mobil is undertaking a complete renovation of the structure, which carries the state road over the federal highway. The work is expected to last until May 2027.
The renovation will take place in two phases. Throughout the entire construction period, a one-way traffic system will be in place on the L3114 in the area of the bridge. The state road will remain open to traffic heading towards Dieburg. Those traveling from Dieburg towards Groß-Zimmern will be detoured via the K128 (Waldstraße).
Diversion also for traffic from the B26
The traffic pattern also affects drivers coming from Münster on the B26 who want to exit towards Groß-Zimmern. They will first be directed back onto the B26 towards Münster via the Gundernhausen exit. Afterwards, they can use the Groß-Zimmern/Dieburg exit.
A signposted detour will also be set up for cyclists. It leads from the roundabout via the K128 and then southwards via farm tracks to Groß-Zimmern.
The bridge dates from 1978
According to Hessen Mobil, regular structural inspections revealed damage and defects in the bridge, which was built in 1978. The renovation aims to ensure traffic safety and the long-term usability of the structure.
The work includes the renewal of the expansion joints and the road surface across the entire bridge area. The bridge drainage system will also be repaired. Sections of the side bridge parapets will be replaced, and minor concrete damage to the underside of the bridge and the abutments will be repaired.
Railings and guardrails will be dismantled for the work and then reinstalled.
The construction costs amount to approximately 668,100 euros and are borne by the state of Hesse.
