What do children and young people want for Darmstadt? What are their concerns, and what ideas do they have for their city? These are the questions that will be addressed at the next open consultation hour for children and young people with Mayor Barbara Akdeniz. Under the motto "And what do you want?", the City of Darmstadt invites you to the youth center in the Martinsviertel district on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 4 p.m.
The event offers young people the opportunity to discuss their concerns, wishes, and questions directly with the mayor. They can contribute their own ideas and participate in shaping their city.
Young people should voice their concerns
With the open consultation hour, the science city of Darmstadt wants to offer children and young people a direct opportunity to exchange ideas with city politics.
The focus is on the issues that concern young people themselves. They can ask questions, make suggestions, and describe their ideas for the future of Darmstadt.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz is looking forward to the talks and emphasizes the importance of the participation of young people.
“I want to find out what motivates children and young people and what ideas they have for their city. The consultation hour gives them the opportunity to get involved and help shape Darmstadt,” explains Akdeniz.
Participation and co-creation are the focus
The mayor considers it particularly important that children and young people are taken seriously with their concerns.
“Because the best way to create a city where everyone can feel comfortable is together,” said Akdeniz.
The open consultation hour under the motto "And what do you want?" is a recurring offering of the science city of Darmstadt. It aims to promote direct dialogue between young people and the city administration.
