The traffic safety organization will show young drivers how to use e-scooters safely on September 25th
The city of Weiterstadt, in cooperation with the traffic safety organization, is offering a driver safety training course for e-scooters . The three-hour course is aimed at pupils and young adults aged 14 and over and will take place on September 25, 2026, from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Braunshardt community center .
The focus is on the safe handling of e-scooters, important traffic rules, and practical riding exercises. The number of participants is limited; registration is required by September 21st.
Practicing braking and cornering
At the beginning, the participants' e-scooters undergo a technical inspection. Afterwards, the instructors teach the basics of vehicle dynamics. This includes, for example, why an e-scooter can skid or veer off course when braking or in certain driving situations.
The most important traffic rules for electric micro-vehicles are also covered. Participants can then practice various driving situations in a cordoned-off area. This also provides an opportunity to ask questions about their own e-scooter and its handling characteristics.
Own e-scooter and helmet required
Participation costs €20 per person, payable in cash on site. Participants must bring their own e-scooter and helmet. Closed shoes and long trousers are also recommended.
