Works by Bruno Erdmann and Willes Meinhardt in dialogue
In Darmstadt, a new exhibition by the Darmstadt Secession will be presented from the end of May: Under the title “The Sound of Silence”, the EPES Gallery at the city wall will show works by Bruno Erdmann and Willes Meinhardt in direct artistic dialogue.
The exhibition runs from May 29 to June 26, 2026 and is part of a new series that brings together important, sometimes forgotten, positions with current artistic works.
Artistic positions in a field of tension
The focus is on two representatives of concrete painting, who are characterized by a reduced, abstract approach to color and form.

While Bruno Erdmann worked with subtle nuances and often barely perceptible color differences, Willes Meinhardt focused on the effects of light and experimented with materials such as glass and acrylic. Both artists share a consistent abstraction and an exploration of perception and silence as central elements of their art.
Opening and accompanying program
The exhibition will open on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 7 p.m.
A special highlight is the artist talk on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 6 p.m. with Dr. Gert Reising and Willes Meinhardt. The event will be accompanied musically by Pascal Studinger on the handpan.
Gallery opening hours
The gallery is open Wednesdays from 10 am to 2 pm and Thursdays and Fridays from 2 pm to 6 pm. Visits are also possible by prior telephone arrangement.
