The city invites families to the Darmstadt Family Benefits Office on June 11th
The City of Darmstadt invites families to a Family Information Day on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Darmstadt Family Benefits Office, located at Groß-Gerauer Weg 7. The aim of the event is to provide families with easy access to information, advice, and support services.
In addition to families, professionals who work with children and families are also invited to find out about existing support services and to talk to each other.
Support in the fight against child poverty
The Family Information Day was initiated by the Alliance Against Child Poverty and is part of the efforts of the science city of Darmstadt to provide targeted support to families.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes the importance of the event: "Our goal is to effectively combat child poverty and give all children a fair start in life. This also includes making access to services easier and reaching families early on."
Support services should become more easily accessible
The importance of easily understandable and accessible support services was also highlighted at the first child poverty conference of the science city of Darmstadt in April, according to the city. The participating stakeholders agreed that families must have faster and easier access to existing support services.
The Family Information Day is intended to help bring information directly to people and facilitate access to important services.
Numerous institutions are participating
The event is being hosted by the Family Benefits Office of Hesse in Darmstadt. Also participating are the Job Center, the Office for Social Affairs and Prevention, the Youth Welfare Office, and the HIPPY project of the German Red Cross.
For the first time, the Equal Opportunities Officer of the Employment Agency is also represented.
The participating institutions provide information about financial assistance, educational and participation opportunities, as well as other support options for families.
A strong network for families
“Families need reliable support that actually makes a difference in their everyday lives,” explains Mayor Barbara Akdeniz. She is pleased with the broad participation of the administration, social service agencies, and counseling centers, who are jointly making the Family Information Day possible.
