EAD is participating in the nationwide campaign "Germany divides"
As part of the nationwide campaign "Germany separates", the EAD and the Dual Systems provide information on proper waste separation.
To kick things off, an action day is planned for Saturday, June 6th, from 10 am to 3 pm at Friedensplatz.
Raising awareness of recycling
According to the organizers, around 30 percent of waste ends up incorrectly in the recycling bins, thus making it more difficult to recycle used packaging.
City treasurer André Schellenberg emphasizes that the campaign should help to raise awareness of proper waste separation and to better recycle raw materials.
Activities in schools, zoo and university
Between June 8th and 12th, the EAD will also be offering waste management consultations in daycare centers and schools. Interested institutions can register by email at ead-kreislaufwirtschaft@darmstadt.de .
An action day with a waste sorting game is planned for Wednesday, June 10th, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Vivarium Zoo.
On Friday, June 12th, between 11 am and 1 pm, the focus will also be on proper waste separation at the high-rise building of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
Guided tours of the sorting plant in Gernsheim
Furthermore, tours of the MEILO sorting plant in Gernsheim will be offered on June 15th and 16th at 10 am each day.
The tours last approximately one and a half to two hours. A maximum of ten people can participate per tour.
