The city council decides to continue the on-demand service
The Darmstadt city council has approved the continued operation of the HeinerLiner until the end of 2027.
HEAG mobilo GmbH's on-demand service will therefore continue from January 1st to December 31st, 2027. The existing operating and service concept will remain largely unchanged.
More than 530,000 passengers since its introduction
The HeinerLiner complements the public transport system in Darmstadt with flexibly bookable journeys without a fixed timetable.
According to the city, more than 530,000 passengers have been transported since the service launched. The app-based operation is running smoothly and has a loyal customer base.
Mobility officer Paul Georg Wandrey explains: “On-demand transport services continue to be seen as an important and future-oriented mobility solution.”
Basis for autonomous forms of transport
According to the city, the HeinerLiner is already creating important prerequisites for future autonomous transport services.
This includes operational, organizational and infrastructural foundations that could be used for autonomous on-demand transport in the future.
Wandrey emphasizes: “The HeinerLiner thus forms the practical basis for preparing the further development towards autonomous forms of transport and integrating them into the public transport structure in the long term.”
Operating hours will remain unchanged
The existing network with virtual stops will remain in place in 2027. The changes to the fare structure and service hours introduced in 2025 will also continue.
The operating hours of the HeinerLiner:
- Monday to Thursday: 4 pm to midnight
- Friday: 4 pm to 3 am
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m
- Sunday: 9 a.m. to 1 a.m
According to the city, the service will continue to operate based on demand. At the same time, they want to ensure service quality and limit the funding framework.
