Exhibition in Darmstadt participates in Rail Day – steam locomotive festival in Kranichstein takes place at the same time
To mark the nationwide Day of Rail, the Working Group for Historic HEAG Vehicles will open its exhibition hall in Darmstadt on September 19th and 20th, 2026. Visitors can view historic trams from seven decades at Marburger Straße 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day
The Working Group (ARGE) Historic HEAG Vehicles is part of the Darmstadt-Kranichstein Railway Museum. In its exhibition hall, it documents the history of tram transport with its preserved vehicles.
Trams from seven decades
The exhibition is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. . The hall can be reached by public transport via the "Waldspirale" and "Nordbahnhof" stops. From there, it is a short walk to Marburger Straße.
Food and drinks will be offered during the event.
Steam locomotive festival at the railway museum
For railway enthusiasts, a visit to the railway museum at Kranichstein station is also worthwhile. There, the Kranichstein Railway World is hosting its traditional steam locomotive festival . The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday
Both events are taking place as part of the nationwide Day of Rail. During this event, companies, associations, museums, and educational institutions will present various aspects of rail transport.
