A lecture at the Darmstadt Clinic on October 28th will provide information about the causes, warning signs and possible diseases of the digestive tract
Diarrhea is one of the most common digestive complaints. But when is it a harmless, temporary disturbance, and when could it be a sign of a more serious underlying condition? These questions will be addressed in a lecture on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Darmstadt Clinic.
Under the title "Diarrhea - harmless or dangerous? When should I be worried?", Dr. Oana Danciu, senior physician at the Darmstadt Clinic and medical site manager at the Agaplesion Elisabethenstift, provides information about possible causes and the medical significance of the symptom.
When should diarrhea be medically evaluated?
The lecture will focus on questions that many people are familiar with from everyday life: How frequent is a bowel movement normally? When is it medically considered diarrhea? And is it harmless if symptoms occur regularly, for example, twice a week?
Dr. Oana Danciu explains how diarrhea develops and what different causes it can have. She focuses in particular on when symptoms should be medically investigated and what warning signs can indicate a serious illness.
From gastrointestinal infections to chronic diseases
The spectrum of possible causes is broad. It ranges from acute gastrointestinal infections to chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, tumors of the digestive tract, and rarer conditions.
The presentation provides an overview of these different diseases and is intended to help to better classify symptoms and recognize possible warning signs.
The event will take place in the lecture room on Grafenstraße at the Darmstadt Clinic.
