Public meeting in Leeheim: Residents criticize truck traffic on the diversion route
The renovation of the main road through Leeheim was the dominant topic at the public meeting with Mayor Marcus Kretschmann at the Leeheim Local History Museum. Around 25 residents took the opportunity to raise questions and concerns about the major construction project.
Residents complain about increased traffic
Residents along the detour route via Kammerhofweg and Westring reported a noticeable increase in traffic. Criticism focused primarily on truck traffic, which repeatedly used the local detour despite existing regulations.
According to the city, a detour route outside the city limits is in place for heavy goods vehicles. Only public buses and local traffic are exempt.
A resident reported that vehicles belonging to a building materials company regularly drove through Leeheim in convoys every morning and evening. Mayor Kretschmann made it clear that this was not permitted and announced that he would investigate the matter.
Supply problems with specialty pipes
Another topic discussed was the delayed delivery of sewer pipes for the ongoing work. A resident inquired about possible impacts on the construction schedule.
Kretschmann explained that special pipes were needed in Leeheim due to the shallow gradient of the sewer system. The manufacturer had informed him at short notice that delivery could not take place on the agreed date.
According to the mayor, however, other work was prioritized to offset the delay. Therefore, the city currently does not anticipate that the existing construction schedule is at risk.
The main road through the town is undergoing extensive renovation
The renovation of the main road through Leeheim is one of the largest current infrastructure projects in Riedstadt. In addition to the road resurfacing, work is also being carried out on the sewer system. Extensive traffic regulations and detours will be in place during the construction period.
