The state of Hesse is funding a participation project for children and young people until 2028
The Groß-Gerau district youth services are among the 15 project sponsors selected for the Hessian action program "Youth Makes Politics – Enabling Participation ." This funding will launch the new model project "Young Climate Alliance in the Groß-Gerau District," which will be supported by the state of Hesse until the end of 2028.
The program is aimed at children, teenagers and young adults aged 10 to 21.Its goal is to raise awareness among young people about climate change, sustainability and social responsibility, and to give them the opportunity to contribute their own ideas.
Workshops, events and own projects
The program includes workshops, excursions, regular meetings, and joint projects. Participants will engage with environmental and climate issues, their living environment, and political questions, and will be able to develop their own projects.
According to the district youth services, the Young Climate Alliance aims not only to impart knowledge but, above all, to promote participation and active engagement. The central question is how young people can shape their own future.
Experiencing democracy in practice
Particular emphasis is placed on political participation. Young people should learn to respect different opinions, make decisions together, and take responsibility for their environment.
The project is explicitly aimed at young people who have had little previous exposure to political participation. Through an open and accessible approach, it seeks to encourage as many children and young people as possible to get involved and actively shape the future.
